Carmacks at a Glance
Named for George Carmack, one of the discoverers of Klondike Gold, Carmacks is
located at the junction of the North Klondike and Robert
Campbell Highways. With its ideal location, travellers can set up a base camp
from which they can explore nearby towns, situated only a few hours away including
Whitehorse, Faro,
Mayo and Dawson City.
Carmacks itself has a lot to offer with interesting attractions such as the Tage
Cho Hudan Interpretive Centre, where visitors can learn about the Northern
Tutchone people. Several Agate
Trails are found within the area, taking hikers through unique topography.
Admire the beauty of the Yukon
River with a stroll along the Riverfront
Boardwalk or tackle the Five
Finger Rapids for a canoeing adventure.
